Born in Mariposa, Mariposa County, Calif., June 20, 1955; B.S., California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, Calif., 1978; farmer; educator; carpenter; bank executive; business owner; member of the Mariposa County, Calif., planning commission, 1982-1986, chair, 1985-1986; member of the Mariposa County, Calif., board of supervisors, 1988-1992, chair, 1991; Repbulican candidate for nomination to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Fourth Congress (November 8, 1994-present).
