Taxpayers Must Respond To Pro-Tax Throngs
Unemployment in Illinois is 11.5% and we have lost more than 100,000 jobs in just the last two years. I stand in strong opposition to those who believe this economy can support higher taxes on our families and employers.
I urge you to oppose all tax increases before the General Assembly. Income tax increases, sales tax in creases, and tax increases targeted by industry will all accomplish the same thing: less investment, Less economic activity. and fewer jobs in Illinois. Families and businesses across the state have had to make tough choices and cut spending. We expect our government to do the same.
Illinois is indeed in a tough spot, but tax increases will only make things worse. Please do the right thing and resist the mistaken urgings of those who believe more spending and higher taxes are the answer. Thank you for opposing tax hikes.
