Ask Your Legislator to Oppose H.R. 2868, the Chemical Facility Anti-terrorism Security Act

H. R. 2868, the Chemical Facility Anti-terrorism Security Act was introduced in Congress last June. This bill would give the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) the authority to require certain Inherent Safer Technology (IST) standards, imposing product and process substitutions at chemical facilities. If enacted, this legislation will negatively impact our nation’s chemical industry and do nothing to actually improve chemical security. Since its introduction, H.R. 2868 was passed out of the Homeland Security Committee and now the House Energy and Commerce Committee has scheduled a hearing on this legislation for Thursday, October 1, 2009. Please contact your member of Congress and tell them at this time of economic vulnerability for our nation, we should not consider this detrimental legislation. Please ask them to oppose the Chemical Facility Anti-terrorism Security Act. To send a message directly to your legislator, simply fill out the information below and click “continue.” A draft message will appear that you can edit as necessary.
