Tell Congress to Preserve LIFO

In his Administration’s budget proposal, President Obama has proposed repealing the “Last In, First Out” (LIFO) inventory accounting method as a revenue offset for federal spending and deficit reduction. It is possible that tax-writing committees will consider LIFO repeal as a possible revenue-raising measure under budget reconciliation or tax reform measures later this year.

It is critically important that LIFO be preserved for the thousands of American businesses—including many NEMA members—which rely on it to determine both book income and tax liability. Please use the form below to contact your Representative and Senators and urge them to preserve LIFO and take it “off the table” during discussions on budget reconciliation and tax reform measures.
