Michigan Chamber's 2011-2012 Legislative Priorities
Agenda for Job Creation & Business Growth
We are pleased to present the Michigan Chamber’s 2011-2012 Legislative Priorities – Agenda for Job Creation & Business Growth. These priorities were developed by members of the Chamber’s policy committees and included the involvement of several hundred business leaders from across Michigan. These priorities were approved on January 26, 2011 by the Michigan Chamber’s 84-member Board of Directors. The Michigan Chamber is proud to represent approximately 7,000 job providers who are committed to moving Michigan forward by advancing this agenda to improve our state’s economic competitiveness.
Chamber staff will use these legislative priorities to focus policymakers on the challenges currently facing Michigan and to guide their decision-making process throughout legislative debates. The priorities are not an exhaustive list of the Chamber’s position on every important issue that might be considered during the next two years. Rather, they are a communication to the Legislature, administration, news media and general public highlighting what our members believe state government should or should not do within the legislative and regulatory arenas to encourage job creation and business growth.
The Chamber’s 2011-2012 legislative priorities address eight issue areas:
