Description: Provides for DMV Commissioner to calculate the fuel tax for each new year using a formula designed to increase the gas tax when people are using less fuel efficient vehicles, driving further distances, or both. The formula determines the tax by multiplying the current gas tax of seventeen and a half cents per gallon ($0.175) by the percentage fuel efficiency has increased or decreased in the state since 2007. When fuel efficiency decreases, the tax increases.
