Voter Guide and Instruction

Voting is a fundamental responsibility and privilege.  It is important to be knowledgeable about issues that affect your livelihood and to actively participate in the legislative process.  Your vote does count! 

Voting is easy.  This page provides you with all the information you will need to vote.  Links to the Secretary of State and Wyoming State Legislature web pages provide excellent information and clear instructions to help you with registering to vote and learning when, where and how you can vote.

Voter Eligibility and Requirements

You must be:

• A citizen of the United States
• A resident of the State of Wyoming
• 18 years of age on election day
• Have never been convicted of a felony crime
• Have not been legally determined mentally incompetent

How to Register to Vote

Contact your local County  Clerk’s office for registration information by selecting the link below. There is a full listing of all Wyoming County Clerks and their contact information including phone, mailing address and e-mail address:

Wyoming County Clerks   

Your County  Clerkshould provide you with:

• A registration form
• Absentee ballot information
• A date, time and place to vote

You can register on the day of the election at the designated precinct voting location near your residence.   You must present a picture I.D. and proof of your residence to complete your registration.

What to Do If You Move or Are Unable to Vote on Election Day

• You are registered for 2008 if you voted in the 2006 general election. (Wyoming  maintains a registry of voters. You need only register once while living in Wyoming, provided you vote in each general election and do not move.)
• If you move to a different precinct or change your name, notify your County  Clerk.
• If you move to a different county you must re-register.
• If you have questions about your registration or where you can vote, contact your County  Clerk.

Absentee Voting

If you are unable to vote on the day of the election, you may vote absentee. Call or write your County  Clerkfor details for attaining an absentee ballot. Remember to return your absentee ballot immediately to assure it will be delivered to the County  Clerk's office not later than 7 p.m. on election day.
