Rhode Island has voted for the Democratic nominee since 1988 and cast its four electoral votes for the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, once again in 2016.

House:
Both Democratic members of the U.S. House from Connecticut were re-elected.

Democrats still control both chambers of the Rhode Island state house.  In the House of Representatives Democrats hold 63 seats to the Republicans 11 and there is 1 independent.  In the Rhode Island State Senate Democrats hold 33 seats to the Republicans 5 seats.
